  • Really? You really think so?

Just saw this on icanhascheezburger.com in the political section and thought it was kind of interesting

Really?  I don't understand why we think we have it so bad...  Is it the gas prices?  Is it the war?  Sure, I may not like either of those things...  But can we really say that America has been torn apart because of them?  If this is what America looks like because of one man, I'd hate to see what it's going to look like should we ever encounter a REAL problem that actually has the potential to shatter the nation and tear it to shreds...  I may not care for Bush that much, but I don't believe he is that catastrophe...

Yes, our nation is very much divided.  Perhaps not to the extremes of the Civil War, for example, but we harbour two very different, very distinct opinions on every single topic out there and, with the current administration and the people in a war of words on one another, we are certainly split in two.

I would not go so far as to say that Bush is the sole reason that our nation is so divided in recent times, but he is undoubtedly a catalyst.  Gas prices would likely not be on the rise had he not invaded the Middle East, and he is a very right-wing President with a very right-wing cabinet, and any leader who is too far to one side on the political spectrum will have a tendency to alienate large groups of people.

    Divided, yes...  But torn apart?

    I feel you...

Here, here! I completely agree with you. We may have problems, but they aren't large enough to tear our nation apart. I don't really care for Bush that much either, but he doesn't deserve all the negative press about him. Can anyone honestly say that our nation is torn apart, impotent, or without a significant economy? I think not.
